Blue Circle Company was started by R. Viswanathan who had about 20 years' experience in Public and Private sector enterprises in India in 1982. He already had degrees (in Physics and Electrical Communication Engineering) in premier educational institutions.
After spending years in developing communication equipment for the army and the police, he decided to quit the public sector organisation he was working for. He was the R&D chief of a private company for the next 4-5 years.
The emphasis was not profit but technical excellence, optimisation of technology for practical purposes. In fact many customers have appreciated our thinking on their behalf.
When this background was attractive to prospective buyers of bcc as a company (when the promoter who had other interests, like history, thinking and writing wanted to retire) the offers were not responded to.
